Dangerous cargo intercepted at the Central Postal Customs
According to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, one of the Yantar Radiation Monitors installed at the Central Postal Customs detected an international parcel emitting radiation 20 times higher than the permissible level.
The subsequent secondary inspection and spectrometric analysis of a ceramic parrot figure found in the parcel with the MKC-A03 Handheld Radiation Monitor revealed the presence of the radium-226 radionuclide, presumably contained in the paint covering the figure.
Details are available on the Russian FCS website.
