As of 2023, more than 20 RSKV-01 sets have been produced and put into operation at water supply and wastewater treatment plants and at enterprises using gamma-emitting radionuclides in their technology, in Russia and abroad.
Positive experience of operating the RSKV-01 radiometer-spectrometer for over 20 years served as a basis for development of a new line of devices for radiation monitoring of liquid media – MZhG-A Water Contamination Monitoring Systems.
Design and operation
RSKV-01 consists of a measuring chamber, a UDS-G3 scintillation gamma detection device based on a (Ø63×160) mm NaI (Tl) crystal, a water treatment unit, a control panel and an operator’s workstation.
The measuring chamber is an assembled unit with a water treatment unit mounted on the chamber outer casing and a tank containing the detection device, surrounded by lead shielding blocks. The measuring tank is a stainless steel flow-through chamber and is designed to ensure a continuous and uniform flow of the measured liquid around the detection device in the required geometry of their relative positions.
The water treatment unit serves for rough cleaning of water entering the measuring tank.
The control panel receives measurement information from the detection unit, processes it using appropriate algorithms, provides light and sound alarms when the set thresholds are exceeded, displays current measurement information, stores previously measured spectra, and transmits the necessary information to a remote computer.
The operator’s workstation is a computer with specialized software.
